2 Reports
A report was received from the Secretary/ Treasurer which included, in the absence of the Show Secretary, a report on the 2008 Open Show. In this report thanks were recorded to the members and others who had contributed greatly to the running of the show and their donations. Particular thanks were recorded to the 2008 judges A Brown, W Peacock , D McCallum, D Cottrell and Gwynn Williams, and the “kitchen” staff of Jose Quigley, Honor Dickie and CarolAnn Cluckie. In order to save postage costs which are quite considerable it was recommended , and agreed by the membership, that the Schedule for the 2009 show would be published in booklet form, and would also be made available in early course on the website. Honor and Hugh and Susan Ballantyne were thanked for standing in at almost the last minute to take over the Show Secretary’s duties, without which the show could not have gone ahead. Eddie Rattray’s raffle ticket selling also made a valuable contribution to the finances of the 2008 show. Thanks also to Colin MacDonald who supplied the use of his Landrover to move the trailer with the staging. The assistance of many members at the end of the show day meant that the Hall was cleared in record time-well done to all! While the show made a loss of £350, we still have a supply of rosettes in hand for 2009.
The club’s website had changed onto a different website provided mid year but had still attracted more than 1000 visitors
Thanks were also recorded to Bill Miller for providing tea/coffee and biscuits at every meeting as well as organising the show staging.
The 2008 aviary visit to R Nawarauckas and W Peacock had been well attended and proved to be an enjoyable day.
The President, W Orr, gave his annual report in which he indicated that the 2009 Open Show would received “Gold” patronage.
